Who are you?
Your “TBJ Admin” is a PhD student, teacher, and writer. I started TravelByJury.com; so, for now, I get a page explaining myself better. And to say, in big bold letters: THIS IS NOT A BLOG.
Why’d you start this website?
I like to travel, and I like to hear about my friend’s travels. I love reading and listening to others’ travel experiences and I use them as references for my trips away. On a recent trip, I noticed a lot of people get their phones turned on internationally, and I began to think about the future of travel and social media. This is the start of some of those thoughts; I wanted to create a quick reference website for any destination in order to help people get their bearings while traveling.
My goal is to see what happens with this site in a calendar year; there are many post-your-travel-experiences sites similar to this one, but I hope TravelByJury.com will continue to grow.
What do you know about travel?
First of all, it’s worth pointing out that I am by far not the most traveled person in the world. That spot’s reserved for people like my Dad, who needed extra pages for his passport, or that guy I met on a plane who’d been in the Royal Navy and who’d seen all seven continents. Or Marjorie, an older lady I met on another plane ride who has traveled every chance she got – often alone – and has been to some of the most interesting places and had fantastic adventures. Anyway, I know about travel by learning from others, and that’s a big reason I wanted to create this website; my friends and family are well-traveled folk, and I hope this website begets a community of like-minded people.
I’ve also traveled a bit myself. From first class to hostels, from buddy passes to a five-day extension in Zurich because of Eyjafjallajökull, I know I’ve been a part of or have witnessed many different travel situations. I travel for business and pleasure, with friends, family, or by myself, and I always have a good time. I’m not a novice, but I’m not an expert; that’s what a community like this is for – a quick reference guide that builds all of our travel expertise. There’s no right or wrong way to travel, so please, submit a review and share YOUR experiences. We’d be glad to have you!
